Focus on Christ

April 16, 2018 by Michael Sliney

TKC!

“Occupy your minds with good thoughts, or the enemy will fill them with bad ones. Unoccupied, they cannot be.” St. Thomas More

As long as our focus stays on Christ and on his loving plan, all will be well.  Thoughts of discouragement, despair, negativity…cannot come from God and they need to be peacefully fought.

God bless,

Fr. Michael Sliney, LC

Worrying too much

April 13, 2018 by Michael Sliney

TKC!

“Drag your thoughts away from your troubles – by the ears, by the heels, or any other way you can manage it.” Mark Twain

You can either focus on the storms or on the sunshine in your life…I find a spirit of gratitude and remembering all of my blessings to be so helpful during the more difficult days.

God bless,

Fr. Michael Sliney, LC

Controlling anger

April 12, 2018 by Michael Sliney

TKC!

“Anger is an acid that can do more harm to the vessel in which it is stored than to anything on which it is poured.” Mark Twain

Anger is a rational response to an injustice…you cannot not “feel” it.  But the question is, how long does it take for your Christian response of compassion and eventually forgiveness to kick in?

God bless,

Fr. Michael Sliney, LC

Real friendships

April 11, 2018 by Michael Sliney

TKC!

“When we think of friends, and call their faces out of the shadows, and their voices out of the echoes that faint along the corridors of memory, and do it without knowing why save that we love to do it, we content ourselves that that friendship is a Reality, and not a Fancy–that it is builded upon a rock, and not upon the sands that dissolve away with the ebbing tides and carry their monuments with them.”  Mark Twain

How many “real” friends do you have? Is Christ your BEST friend?

God bless,

Fr. Michael Sliney, LC

Silence the faculties

April 2, 2018 by Michael Sliney
