Highlight reel of your life…
“Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.” — Dr. Seuss It can be a good thing to review the highlight film of your life and thank God for the victories and for the moments that allowed you to get back up and grow in virtue….

Service to others
“In America, you are not required to offer food to the hungry or shelter the homeless. There is no ordinance forcing you to visit the lonely, or comfort the infirmed. No where in the Constitution does it say you have to provide clothing to the poor. In fact, one of the nicest things about living here in America, is that you really don’t have to do anything for anybody. But when you do, you give meaning and provide soul to the concept of community…and develop a sense of purpose to something greater than one’s self….” Pope St. Paul VI

God Loves a cheerful giver!
Book of divine love
“You have read very good books, I am sure; there is an excellent book however, that never grows old; it is the one that God has written on every plant, on every grain of sand, in yourself; it is the book of Divine love. Give, therefore, your preference to that beautiful book and add to it a few pages of admiration and gratefulness. Read and understand all other books in the light of this one…” – St. Peter Julian Eymard

The cross is a gift from God!
“The everlasting God has in His wisdom foreseen from eternity the cross that He now presents to you as a gift from His inmost heart. This cross He now sends you He has considered with His all-knowing eyes, understood with His divine mind, tested with His wise justice, warmed with loving arms and weighed with His own hands to see that it be not one inch too large and not one ounce too heavy for you. He has blessed it with His holy Name, anointed it with His consolation, taken one last glance at you and your courage, and then sent it to you from heaven, a special greeting from God to you, an alms of the all-merciful love of God.” St. Francis de Sales

Summer vacation
TKC!I will be heading out to the Virginia mountains for a few weeks of vacation with my brother priests and seminarians…plenty of time for hikes, mountain running, swimming and more importantly quality prayer time and real bonding with my band of Legionary brothers here in DC. A special thanks to the two host families that are opening up their summer homes to make this happen…grateful to them and grateful to God for allowing us to have this time away. My service will resume on August 15th. God bless you,Fr. Michael Sliney, LC
