Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

”If certain thoughts bother you, it is devil who causes you to worry, and not God, Who, being the spirit of peace, grants you tranquility.” – St. Padre Pio

Which voice are you listening to?

God bless,

Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

“You would not have called to me unless I had been calling to you,” said the Lion.”  CS Lewis

Jesus really, REALLY wants to be your best friend.  He is always gently knocking on the door of your heart…will you let him in?

God’s interruptions

October 6, 2016 by Michael Sliney

Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

“What one calls the interruptions are precisely one’s real life — the life God is sending one, day by day.”  CS Lewis

As I was ascending the steps of a subway station last week, a gentleman was waiting on the top with an outstretched hand and a big smile.  He caught me off guard and my focus was on getting to my lunch appointment…he was simply happy to see a priest and I should have lingered a little longer with this gentleman.  God may have someone on your schedule today that you are not aware of…be prepared to give that person your love!

God bless,

Walking the walk

October 5, 2016 by Michael Sliney

Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

“If conversion to Christianity makes no improvement in a man’s outward actions–if he continues to be just as snobbish or spiteful or envious or ambitious as he was before–then I think we must suspect that his ‘conversion’ was largely imaginary.” CS Lewis

One of the difficulties that I have had with Protestants considering conversion is that they have told me, “Fr. Michael, I have a lot of Catholic friends who attend Church and even go to Bible studies, but some of them are not exactly models of Christian living…”  We all need to walk the walk to take this excuse away!

God bless,

Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

“You know well enough that Our Lord does not look so much at the greatness of our actions, nor even at their difficulty, but at the love with which we do them.”  Saint Therese of Lisieux

Small things done with great love impress God.

God has a plan

September 30, 2016 by Michael Sliney

Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

“One of the chief uses of religion is that it makes us remember our coming from darkness, the simple fact that we are created.” G.K. Chesterton

Although our DNA and material form certainly came from our parents, God created our soul.  He has a particular plan for each one of us, and there are particular souls that he wants to love through you.  This is the path to deep, personal fulfillment and profound, inner peace!

God bless,

Fr. Michael Sliney, LC

Forgiveness in the Family

September 29, 2016 by Michael Sliney

37bbef4f-4a0b-4344-853c-4f2540f9a436

Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

“And they need Jesus’ help to walk beside one another in trust, to accept one another each day, and daily to forgive one another. And this is important! To know how to forgive one another in families because we all make mistakes, all of us! Sometimes we do things which are not good and which harm others. It is important to have the courage to ask for forgiveness when we are at fault in the family.” Pope Francis

As my older brother Tom was teaching me how to play golf, I brought back the club without realizing that he was behind me, and cut open his lip with the face of the club.  When he returned home with 7 stitches, he came up to me with a smile and said, “Don’t worry, Mike.  I know you didn’t mean to do it, and besides, having a scar will make me look tougher.”

God bless,

Fr. Michael Sliney, LC
