Thy Kingdom Come!
Dear Friends, in Christ,
“Christ says, ‘Give me all. I don’t want so much of your time and so much of your money and so much of your work: I want you….Hand over the whole natural self, all the desires which you think innocent as well as the ones you think wicked- the whole outfit. I will give you a new self instead. In fact, I will give you myself: my own will shall become yours.” CS Lewis
Please, open the door of your heart and let the “Christification” process begin!
God bless,
Fr. Michael Sliney, LC

Thy Kingdom Come!
Dear Friends in Christ,
“A judicious silence is always better than truth spoken without charity.” –St. Francis De Sales
I admire people who first listen, reflect, ponder…and then speak calmly with charity, wisdom, and without the passional outburst.
God bless,

Thy Kingdom Come!
Dear Friends, in Christ,
“My greatest happiness is to be before the Blessed Sacrament, where my heart is, as it were, in Its center.” St. Margaret Mary Alacoque
Several years ago, as I was coming out of a Parish youth activity in Northern Virginia, a fifteen seater van full of kids pulled up and the mom rolled the window and asked, “Fr. Michael, would you mind just staying here with these kids for 5-10 minutes? I really need to make a visit to Jesus in the chapel!” She looked a little frazzled and tired, so I agreed, and tried to do a catechism competition to keep them engaged. Ten minutes later, she came out with a big smile on her face and thanked me from the heart. She had filled her spiritual tank and was ready to go!
God bless,
Fr. Michael Sliney, LC

Thy Kingdom Come!
Dear Friends in Christ,
“Intense love does not measure . . . it just gives.” — St. Mother Teresa
Family vacation meant golf for my dad and my 2 brothers and I. My mom resisted at first, but she eventually took the plunge when my oldest sister got married and no longer came with us on vacation. I did my best to help with some lessons in the back yard with plastic golf balls, but it was super frustrating for her (and me). She tried so hard!! Her game was tennis, but she wanted to be with the ones she loved, so she kept plugging away. It really was special to have her with us on the course, and yes, this was love!!
God bless,

Thy Kingdom Come!
Dear Friends, in Christ,
“Fallen man is not simply an imperfect creature who needs improvement: he is a rebel who must lay down his arms.” CS Lewis
We all have certain vices/harmful ways of being, that we are not willing to give up. Sanctity begins when you recognize this fact, lay down your arms, and allow God with the help of his grace, to gradually go there.
God bless,

Thy Kingdom Come!
Dear Friends, in Christ,
“When I see that the burden is beyond my strength, I do not consider or analyze it or probe into it, but I run like a child to the Heart of Jesus and say only one word to Him: “You can do all things.” And then I keep silent, because I know that Jesus Himself will intervene in the matter, and as for me, instead of tormenting myself, I use that time to love Him.” St. Faustina
When the burden is too heavy, go to Jesus…don’t go it alone, he really wants to help you!
God bless,
Fr. Michael Sliney, LC

Thy Kingdom Come!
Dear Friends, in Christ,
“Listen and attend with the ear of your heart” -St. Benedict
Truly listening from the heart…not waiting for the other to finish so you can get in your point, not simply tolerating, but listening with love and heart-felt attention. This is how Jesus wants us to love!
God bless,
Fr. Michael Sliney, LC

Thy Kingdom Come!
Dear Friends, in Christ,
“In difficult moments I will fix my gaze upon the silent heart of Jesus, stretched upon the cross, and from the exploding flames of His merciful Heart, will flow down upon me power and strength to keep fighting.” St. Faustina
A mom with two little kids told me, “Fr. Michael, when it gets really tough and I find my patience wearing thin, I go to my bedroom, I lean in front of the crucifix on my wall, and beg Jesus to help me…it works every time!”
God bless,
Fr. Michael Sliney, LC
