Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

“In the Sacrament of Penance, “Jesus receives us with all of our limitations, He bring us the mercy of the Father who forgives us, and transforms our heart, rendering it a new heart, capable of loving Him, who loved His own to the end (cf. John 13:1). And this love is manifested in his mercy. Jesus always forgives us.” Pope Francis

Allow Christ to heal your wounded heart, strengthen your tired soul, put enthusiasm back into your system…go to confession regularly!!

God bless,

Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

“In the light of Mary, the Church sees in the face of women the reflection of a beauty which mirrors the loftiest sentiments of which the human heart is capable: the self-offering totality of love; the strength that is capable of bearing the greatest sorrows; limitless fidelity and tireless devotion to work; the ability to combine penetrating intuition with words of support and encouragement.” St. John Paul II

Woman are a huge blessing to the Church, the family and the world.  Please ladies, live up to this lofty ideal…we all need your holiness!

God bless,

Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

“Don’t let your sins turn into bad habits.” St. Teresa of Avila

Bad language starts small and can easily grow into an ugly monster…and yes, your kids will assimilate this behavior.  Catch it and eradicate it…self-mastery is needed!

Family prayer

November 12, 2016 by Michael Sliney

Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

“Family prayer has its own characteristic qualities. It is prayer offered in common, husband and wife together, parents and children together…by reason of their dignity and mission, Christian parents have the specific responsibility of educating their children in prayer, introducing them to gradual discovery of the mystery of God and to personal dialogue with Him…” St. John Paul II

Saying grace before meals, attending Mass on Sunday, praying the rosary together, reading and reflecting on Scripture together…all powerful ways to introduce your children to a deeper friendship with Christ.

God bless,

Fr. Michael Sliney, LC

Something should be done

Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

“Enough had been thought, and said, and felt, and imagined. It was about time that something should be done.” CS Lewis

“When I was hungry you gave me food, when I was thirsty, you gave me drink…” (Mt. 25: 35)  When was the last time you served at a soup kitchen or simply gave your time to help those need?

God bless,

Listen in silence

November 10, 2016 by Michael Sliney

Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

“Listen in silence, because if your heart is full of other things, you cannot hear the voice of God.” St. Mother Teresa

Go to a Catholic Church, leave the noise of the world, shut off your cell phone, stop solving problems and just put yourself in front of Our Lord.  He will listen to you, he will heal you, he will gently speak to your heart and strengthen you.

God bless,

The Option of Love

November 7, 2016 by Michael Sliney

9353f5d7-f294-4a91-8455-ec8846b69c6d

Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

“Faced with today’s problems and disappointments, many people will try to escape from their responsibility. Escape in selfishness, escape in sexual pleasure, escape in drugs, escape in violence, escape in indifference and cynical attitudes. I propose to you the option of love, which is the opposite of escape.” ~St. John Paul II

During my seminary days in Rome, final exams were the most intense two weeks of the year.  And yet, in the midst of this intensity and stress, there was always a team of seminarians baking chocolate chip cookies during our “siesta”, so we could all enjoy an A+ snack in the afternoon. They chose the option of love!

God bless,

Fr. Michael Sliney, LC

The Gift of Time

November 6, 2016 by Michael Sliney

Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

“Oh, how precious time is! Blessed are those who know how to make good use of it. Oh, if only all could understand how precious time is, undoubtedly everyone would do his best to spend it in a praiseworthy manner!” St. Padre Pio

Being alive is a huge gift from God.  My biggest concern is to be in sync with what God wants in each and every moment…trying to discover how he wants me to love.

God bless,

Fr. Michael Sliney, LC

Hypocrisy

November 5, 2016 by Michael Sliney

6520c898-87c3-4a3e-88a5-45f463fa109a

Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

“Be sure that you first preach by the way you live. If you do not, people will notice that you say one thing, but live otherwise, and your words will bring only cynical laughter and a derisive shake of the head.”  St. Charles Borromeo

Parents, please take heed on this one!

God bless,

Fr. Michael Sliney, LC
