Going the extra mile

December 2, 2016 by Michael Sliney

Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

“If He asks much of you, it is because He knows you can give much.” St. John Paul II

Good, sensitive people are tempted to ask the question: Why Me?  Why is God always asking me to be the one who steps it up, makes sacrifices and goes the extra mile?  Because he equipped you with the qualities to do it, and he needs your help to inspire others!

God bless,

The strength of grace…

Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

“The gift of grace increases as the struggle increases.” – St. Rose of Lima

One of the big reasons for Tom Brady’s success over the years is the tremendous protection he has received from his offensive line.  With the help of God’s grace and regular prayer, it is relatively easy to advance against even the fiercest opponent and difficulties….

God bless,

Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

“If we earnestly endeavor to love Jesus, this alone will drive all fear from our hearts and soul will find that instead of walking in the Lord’s paths, it is flying.” St. Padre Pio

Swiftly soar like an eagle or slowly swim like a fish…it all depends on how much you love Jesus Christ!

God bless,

November 29, 2016 by Michael Sliney

Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

“The very man who has argued you down, will sometimes be found, years later, to have been influenced by what you said.” CS Lewis

Our job is to plant the seeds of truth in people’s minds…then through our prayers and sacrifices, patiently wait for the gentle action of the Holy Spirit to gradually bring these seeds to fruition.

God bless,

Fr. Michael Sliney, LC

Confession

November 28, 2016 by Michael Sliney

Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

“In order to bring true peace back to my soul, the only way that there exists on the Earth is Confession, because Jesus awaits me with His immense heart.”  St. Gianna Molla

Christ is there in the confessional, waiting to shower your soul with his kindness, his grace and his healing love.  Don’t be afraid of Jesus!

God bless,

November 27, 2016 by Michael Sliney

Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

“When you have received Him, stir up your heart to do Him homage; speak to Him about your spiritual life, gazing upon Him in your soul where He is present for your happiness; welcome Him as warmly as possible, and behave outwardly in such a way that your actions may give proof to all of His Presence.” St. Francis de Sales

What are your thoughts after receiving Christ in holy communion?  Are you aware that you continue to carry him deep in your heart after Mass?

God bless,

Fr. Michael Sliney, LC

Give God the glory!

November 26, 2016 by Michael Sliney

Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

“We are mirrors whose brightness, if we are bright, is wholly derived from the sun that shines upon us.”  CS Lewis

So often, I receive an inspiration to do a good deed and it seems to come out of nowhere.  God put it there, his grace gives me the strength to actually do it, and this knowledge is key to making sure that he gets all of the glory….not me!!

God bless,

November 25, 2016 by Michael Sliney

Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

“It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.– St. André Bessette

St. Mother Teresa…a small but powerful paint brush in the hands of God!

Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

“I don’t think of all the misery, but of the beauty that still remains.” Anne Frank

What better day than Thanksgiving to start a “gratitude journal”.  Write down all the ways that God is loving you each and every day…and there are so many!

God bless,

Fr. Michael Sliney, LC

Doubting…

November 21, 2016 by Michael Sliney

Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

“Doubting is the biggest insult to Divinity.” St. Padre Pio

St. Peter was actually walking on water, until he took his eyes off Jesus.  Problems begin when we rely too much on our own abilities and not enough on God’s grace.

God bless,

Fr. Michael Sliney, LC
