Trust in God’s plan

July 13, 2018 by Michael Sliney

“To have courage for whatever comes in life — everything lies in that.” St. Teresa of Avila

Sometimes, God asks us to leave our comfort zone as a necessary means for personal growth…don’t be afraid to jump, when he asks you to jump!

God bless,

Fr. Michael Sliney, LC

A wood in earnest

July 9, 2018 by Michael Sliney

“A word in earnest is as good as a speech.” Charles Dickens

Several years ago, myself and a father-daughter group of missionaries, had the privilege of helping hurricane victims from LaPlace, Louisiana move back into their flood ravaged homes.   One gentleman from the local Catholic Church came up to me, looked me straight in the eyes and while shaking my hand said, “Thank you for helping, Fr. Michael”   This simple expression was said with so much sincerity and it came from the heart…it left a deep impression on me and the group!

God bless,

Fr. Michael Sliney, LC

Live with hope!

July 8, 2018 by Michael Sliney

TKC!

“To live without Hope is to cease to live.” Fyodor Dostoevsky

Look for the sunshine in the clouds, look for the ray of light in the darkness…look for Jesus when you suffer and you will always find him very close!

Self mastery

July 7, 2018 by Michael Sliney

TKC!

“Subdue your appetites, my dears, and you’ve conquered human nature.” Charles Dickens

Taking a little more of the food you don’t like, a little less of what you like…small things, but they go a long way in forming self-mastery in other areas as well.

Seeing Christ in the poor

July 6, 2018 by Michael Sliney

TKC!

“Dear friends, if you learn to discover Jesus in the Eucharist, you will also know how to discover Him in your brothers and sisters, particularly the very poor.” St. John Paul II

It is so much easier to see the face of Jesus in the poor after spending time with him in the Blessed Sacrament!

God bless,

Fr. Michael Sliney, LC

All you need is love…

July 5, 2018 by Michael Sliney

TKC!

“Today Christ is asking each of you the same question: do you love Me? He is not asking you whether you know how to speak to crowds, whether you can direct an organization or manage an estate. He is asking you to love Him. All the rest will ensue.” St. John Paul II

Jesus asked Peter 3 times, “Do you love me?” before re-affirming his mission as our first pope.  He did not ask if he was a good administrator, if he spoke multiple languages, if he had a plethora of human qualities…Jesus, first and foremost, needs our love and he will do the rest!

God bless,

Fr. Michael Sliney, LC
