God’s paternal love

April 26, 2020 by Michael Sliney

“The whole difference between construction and creation is exactly this: that a thing constructed can only be loved after it is constructed; but a thing created is loved before it exists.” Charles Dickens
God’s paternal love is unconditional and relentless…open the door of your heart and let Him love you!

Keep your heart open!

April 25, 2020 by Michael Sliney

“Although the happiness and delight of my life lie buried there too, I have not made a coffin of my heart, and sealed it up for ever on my best affections. Deep affliction has only made them stronger; it ought, I think, for it should refine our nature.” Charles Dickens
Sometimes our hearts can be broken when we lose a loved one or simply break off a friendship…allow Christ to keep your heart open with his touch of love. He still wants to love so many through you!

The beauty of brokenness

April 24, 2020 by Michael Sliney

“Suffering has been stronger than all other teaching, and has taught me to understand what your heart used to be. I have been bent and broken, but—I hope—into a better shape.” Charles Dickens
God can piece us back together from our brokenness to form something even more beautiful…allow him to work in you!

Jesus!

April 21, 2020 by Michael Sliney

“If Christ Jesus dwells in a man as his friend and noble leader, that man can endure all things, for Christ helps and strengthens us and never abandons us. He is a true friend. And I clearly see that if we expect to please him and receive an abundance of his graces, God desires that these graces must come to us from the hands of Christ, through his most sacred humanity, in which God takes delight.” St. Teresa of Avila

A True Gentleman

April 19, 2020 by Michael Sliney

“The gentleman is the one who is modest and retiring, who waits first on the others and thinks of everyone but himself, and finds his chief happiness in making someone else happy; who, however poor and humble anyone else may be, bears to them the open palm of true nobility.” Venerable Bishop Sheen

The choice is yours

April 18, 2020 by Michael Sliney

Thy Kingdom Come!Dear Friends in Christ,
“The choice is yours: to let yourselves slide downhill into the valley of a dull conformism, or to face the effort of climbing the peak, where you can breathe the pure air of truth, goodness, and love.” (St. Pope John Paul II, September 27, 1997)
For five years, a group of fathers and sons embarked on a backpacking trip to the Adirondack’s, and the greatest challenge was climbing “Giant Mountain” (pictured above). There is not much of a view until you get to the top but after 4 hours of intense hiking, the breeze and view are that much more enjoyable. Don’t focus on the difficulty of the terrain, don’t focus on the mud and lack of breeze, don’t get discouraged and give up on your kids, on your spouse or even on yourself…focus on the goal of becoming a Saint and never doubt that this where your temporal and eternal peace lies waiting!
God bless,Fr. Michael Sliney, LC

True joy

April 17, 2020 by Michael Sliney

“People are made for happiness. Rightly, then, you thirst for happiness. Christ has the answer to this desire of yours. But he asks you to trust him. True joy is a victory, something which cannot be obtained without a long and difficult struggle. Christ holds the secret of this victory.” St. John Paul II
St. Mother Teresa “fought the good fight to the end, ran the race to the finish, and kept the Faith.”  Perseverance is the “gift of gifts” and the fruit of a committed and dedicated prayer life and connection with our Lord Jesus Christ.  Without Christ and the help of his grace, you simply cannot do it! God bless,Fr. Michael Sliney, LC
