Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Friends, in Christ,

To know how to forgive one another in families because we all make mistakes, all of us! Sometimes we do things which are not good and which harm others. It is important to have the courage to ask for forgiveness when we are at fault in the family.” Pope Francis

     As my older brother Tom was teaching me how to play golf, I brought back the club without realizing that he was behind me, and cut open his lip with the face of the club.  When he returned home with 7 stitches, he came up to me with a smile and said, “Don’t worry, Mike.  I know you didn’t mean to do it, and besides, having a scar will make me look tougher.”

    I find a lot of men and women really start asking the tough questions as they enter their mid forties.  This can be a time of awakening and strong spiritual growth or a time of retreating back into the pleasures and vices of their early days…we know how each story ends.

    Most people do not ask if you “won” your marathon race…they start with, “did you finish” and then perhaps ask your time.  God wants us to at least “put on our running shoes” and try to be virtuous each day…the results are less important than getting back up again and again and again.
