Don’t give up on praying

Dear Friends, in Christ,

     “Prayer gives us strength for great ideals, for keeping up our faith, charity, purity, generosity; prayer gives us strength to rise up from indifference and guilt, if we have had the misfortune to give in to temptation and weakness. Prayer gives us light by which to see and to judge from God’s perspective and from eternity. That is why you must not give up on praying!” (Pope John Paul II)

    St. John Paul II spent so much time kneeling in prayer before Christ in the Blessed Sacrament…this was where he found his wisdom and his strength.  Make time for prayer!

Listening to God

Drinking problems

Dear Friends, in Christ,

     “Men do not differ much about what things they will call evils; they differ enormously about what evils they will call excusable.” G.K. Chesterton

    I have no problem with someone having an occasional mixed drink or a glass of wine at a meal.  But when it becomes a daily “need” and suddenly it becomes close to a bottle of wine, there is clearly a problem.  Too many marriages (and children) have been brutally hurt because of drinking problems, and I would hope that if you have a good friend going down that path, you would not hesitate to have a heart to heart on this topic.
