Dear Friends, in Christ,

    I have no problem with someone having an occasional mixed drink or a glass of wine at a meal.  But when it becomes a daily “need” and suddenly it becomes close to a bottle of wine, there is clearly a problem.  Too many marriages (and children) have been brutally hurt because of drinking problems, and I would hope that if you have a good friend going down that path, you would not hesitate to have a heart to heart on this topic.

     This chapel at St. Patrick’s Cathedral is one of my favorite places to “hang out” with Jesus.  Few words if any are needed, just “being with” the one I love and whom I know loves me!

It has been a real pleasure to serve all of you through my daily Gospel videos and reflections. Your supportive comments and emails are very encouraging, and I am glad that this simple service has been useful to you and your families.

With 14 priests, seminarians, and mission corps young men currently living in our house in DC and 8 priests living in our house in NY, we have a combined annual budget of $250,000 and hope to send an additional $30,000 to our seminary in Cheshire, Ct. to support their needs as well.
