Basic tips for disciplining children
Thy Kingdom Come!
Dear Friends in Christ,
“Honor your Father and your Mother.” (Exodus 20:12)
Basic Tips for disciplining children
1. Do not over-react: the less emotion, the better, and the punishment needs to be proportional to the infraction.
2. United front- mom and dad must be on the same page, and punishments should be discussed in private as a couple before announcing it to the child.
3. Explain why you are punishing them: Make the children understand the gravity of the offense, the long term effect of that behavior, etc…
4. Determine what they most enjoy doing and use that as collateral (cell phones, video games, computer, facebook, ipod, dessert,…)
5. Disrespect can never be tolerated.
6. The punishment should be constructive. Give them a good book to read and summarize, an assignment or a chore so as to make good use of this time.
7. Unconditional love- no matter what happens, they still need to see that you love them.

Make others happy!
TKC!
“Be happy in the moment, that’s enough. Each moment is all we need, not more.” St. Mother Teresa
Try to make other’s happy in the moment as well!

Theological virtues
Highlight film
TKC!
“I am not sure exactly what heaven will be like, but I know that when we die and it comes time for God to judge us, he will not ask, ‘How many good things have you done in your life?’ rather he will ask, ‘How much love did you put into what you did?” St. Mother Teresa
These little acts of kindness and self-giving done out of love for God will certainly be on the highlight film of our life’s journey.
God bless,

Patient endurance
TKC!
“Without patience, we will learn less in life. We will see less. We will feel less. We will hear less. Ironically, rush and more usually mean less.” St. Mother Teresa
Silence, calm, patient endurance…builds so much character and this is so needed in today’s “give it to me right now” frenetic world.
God bless,
