“The people with very hard problems are understood by God. He knows what wretched machines they are trying to drive. Some day he will fling them away and give those people new ones; then they may astonish everyone, for they learned their driving in a hard school. Some of the last will be first and some of the first will be last.” CS Lewis
Patient endurance with yourself and patient endurance with others…only God knows the complexity of pain behind a difficult person. Trust in his mercy and try to be an instrument of his mercy for others!
God bless,

“Many things have gone wrong with the world that God made and…God insists, and insists very loudly, on our putting them right again” CS Lewis
When you look at the opiod crisis, the declining church attendance, religious division, threats of world war, selfishness and sinfulness…it can be tempting to get overwhelmed and simply stop trying to change the world. God will never give up, and He is counting on you to inspire the souls that he has put in your path with the holiness of your life. Don’t give up!
God bless,
Fr. Michael Sliney, LC

“Getting over a painful experience is much like crossing monkey bars. You have to let go at some point in order to move forward.” CS Lewis
You need to mentally decide not to go back to that painful experience and live in the present moment…let the scab heal!!

Thy Kingdom Come!
Dear Friends in Christ,
It has been a real pleasure to serve all of you through my daily Gospel videos and reflections. Your supportive comments and emails are very encouraging, and I am glad that this simple service has been useful to you and your families.
Once again, I would like to make my annual request for help. I know that many of you have already been extremely generous in showing your financial support both in DC and NY, so for those who have already given, thank you!! With 14 priests, seminarians, and mission corps young men currently living in our house in DC and 10 priests living in our house in NY, we have a combined annual budget of $300,000 and hope to send an additional $30,000 to our seminary in Cheshire, Ct. to support their needs as well. The donations will be divided 50-50 between NY and DC. Please consider being an ANGEL FOR A DAY, whose support will be felt all year by many, by using the link below to make a tax deductible donation*:

“The endurance of darkness is the preparation for great light.” St. John of the Cross
God will never give you more than you can handle, and he often allows adversity and difficulties so we can grow and stretch our capacity to love. Never doubt this “tough love” is leading you to greater peace and holiness!
God bless,

“Love, to be real, must empty us of self.” St. Teresa of Calcutta
Being a parent forces a high level of self-giving to your kids (and your spouse). Ask Jesus to help you, fill the tank with daily prayer, and allow his divine love to work through you every day!!
