March 26, 2018 by Michael Sliney

“The endurance of darkness is the preparation for great light.” St. John of the Cross

There is always a crack of light in every darkness…look for it and go towards the light!

Saying “no” graciously

March 25, 2018 by Michael Sliney

TKC!

“When Charity is deeply rooted in the soul it shows itself exteriorly: there is so gracious a way of refusing what we cannot give, that the refusal pleases as much as the gift.” St. Therese of Lisieux

Imagine how gracefully St. Therese would have said “no”…such an important virtue!

God bless,

Fr. Michael Sliney, LC

Calm waters

March 23, 2018 by Michael Sliney

TKC!

“Strive to preserve your heart in peace; let no event of this world disturb it.”  St. John of the Cross

Don’t allow the pebbles of doubt and anxiety disturb the calm waters in your soul…you can only see and hear God when the waters are still!

God bless,

Sailing along in love

March 22, 2018 by Michael Sliney

TKC!

“To live in love is to sail forever, spreading seeds of joy and peace in hearts.” St. Therese of Lisieux

Sailing smoothly along in love or slowly sinking in selfishness?  It all comes down to your personal love for Christ….try to love him more!

God bless,

Fr. Michael Sliney, LC

Allow God to shape you!

March 20, 2018 by Michael Sliney

TKC!

“Suffering has been stronger than all other teaching, and has taught me to understand what your heart used to be. I have been bent and broken, but – I hope – into a better shape.” Charles Dickens

When life gets a little challenging, try to remember that God is often molding and shaping you into something more beautiful…it comes down to trusting in his loving plan!

God bless,

Fr. Michael Sliney, LC

The joy of meeting again

March 19, 2018 by Michael Sliney

TKC!

“The pain of parting is nothing to the joy of meeting again.”  Charles Dickens

Personally, having lost one of my brothers and my dad, I remember them every day in my prayers with the hope that if they are still in purgatory, they will reach heaven soon.  What joy it would be to have your entire family re-united with you in heaven!!

God bless,

Jesus and parenting

March 18, 2018 by Michael Sliney

TKC!

“Parents can only give good advice or put them on the right paths, but the final forming of a person’s character lies in their own hands.” Anne Frank

Parents need to form their kids, but the kids need to accept and want to improve.  I find that kids who pray and discover Jesus as a friend from an early age, are much more motivated to flourish under their parent’s inspiration and guidance.

God bless,

A gentle spirit

March 17, 2018 by Michael Sliney

TKC!

“In the long run, the sharpest weapon of all is a kind and gentle spirit.” Anne Frank

The world is filled with critical and judgmental people…this does not solve conflict, it only deepens it.  Try kindness, it works!!

God bless,

Fr. Michael Sliney, LC

Selfless Love

March 16, 2018 by Michael Sliney

TKC!

“Love, what is love? I don’t think you can really put it into words. Love is understanding someone, caring for him, sharing his joys and sorrows.” Anne Frank

Take time to ponder

March 15, 2018 by Michael Sliney

TKC!

“The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existence. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery each day.” Albert Einstein

Take time to ponder, reflect on the big questions of life. Who am I? Where did I come from and where am I going?  Let your faith illuminate this journey!

God bless,

Fr. Michael Sliney, LC
