Which doors in the depths of your heart are locked? Where are you not “willing to go”, even though you know God wants this from you? We need to repeat in prayer, with the words of Jesus himself, “Lord, not my will but your will be done!”

Some of my most intimate and effective prayers are when I open my heart to God and tell him; “Jesus, my human nature is struggling in this particular area right now. I know you want me to go there, but I am feeling a lot of internal resistance. Could you please help me truly desire this virtue? I am weak and I really need your help!”

Constructive criticism
“What can you ever really know of other people’s souls—of their temptations, their opportunities, their struggles? One soul in the whole creation you do know: and it is the only one whose fate is placed in your hands.” CS Lewis
Outside of the context of a family or “best friend” relationship, we need to be very careful in offering constructive criticism. I find it much more effective to inspire them with the strong example of a virtuous life.
